Ends: Jul-10-2022 Description: The sweet, relaxing aroma of lavender fills the air during the annual Oregon Lavender Festival. According to the Oregon Lavender Association, Oregon has "long been a lavender pioneer" and this annual festival, which is held at dozens of farms throughout the Willamette Valley, is a celebration of this versatile flower's history. Five of Washington County's own lavender farms are joining in this year's festivities, each offering activities, lavender-scented products and foods such as cookies and jams made from locally grown lavender, and, of course, fresh-cut lavender (many farms will be offering guests a chance to cut their own bunches of lavender). Participating farms include: Barb's Dutch Mill Herb Farm, Helvetia Lavender Farm, Jackson School Lavender, Mountainside Lavender, Seasonal Mary Herb~Flower Farm. Parking and admission to the farms are free. |

Ends: May-05-2025 Description: For more than 30 years, the Portland Guadalajara Sister City Association (PGSCA) has hosted a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta that has become one of the largest multicultural celebrations in Oregon. The fiesta boasts three full days packed with festivities and culturally immersive programming at Tom McCall Waterfront Park. During the event, festival goers can experience the spirit of Mexico through music, arts, dance and sport. The Cinco de Mayo Fiesta began in 1983, the same year that Guadalajara, Mexico, became one of Portland's nine international sister cities. As a direct result, a strong sense of cultural exchange continues to drive the activities and nonprofit collaborations of the festival. |
