Description: The winter season holds many gifts for beer lovers in the form of big, bold ales designed to fend off the cold chill of a long winter's night. Each year, the Holiday Ale Festival annually gathers up dozens of these winter warmers for a joyous five-day celebration. As a result, this quintessential Portland event has earned a reputation as the premier winter beer tasting venue on the West Coast. Held in the heart of downtown Portland, the Holiday Ale Festival keeps attendees warm and dry under a large clear top tent that covers Pioneer Courthouse Square while allowing for views of the city lights. Gas heaters create a cozy ambiance under the boughs of one of the region's largest decorated Christmas trees.

Description: Presenting the sights, sounds and sensations of the season, The Grotto's Christmas Festival of Lights is the largest Christmas choral festival in the world. The festival features more than 170 indoor holiday concerts performed by many of the region's finest school, church and civic choirs. Offering a family-oriented blend of traditional celebration and serene reflection, the festival theme reflects the special season of hope that Christmas offers to many thousands of families from around the Pacific Northwest. Five indoor concerts are scheduled each evening in The Grotto's 600-seat chapel, known for its cathedral quality acoustics. Description: For more than 30 years, the Portland Guadalajara Sister City Association (PGSCA) has hosted a Cinco de Mayo Fiesta that has become one of the largest multicultural celebrations in Oregon. During the event, festival goers can experience the spirit of Mexico through music, arts, dance and sport. Description: The sweet, relaxing aroma of lavender fills the air during the annual Oregon Lavender Festival. According to the Oregon Lavender Association, Oregon has "long been a lavender pioneer" and this annual festival, which is held at dozens of farms throughout the Willamette Valley, is a celebration of this versatile flower's history. Five of Washington County's own lavender farms are joining in this year's festivities, each offering activities, lavender-scented products and foods such as cookies and jams made from locally grown lavender, and, of course, fresh-cut lavender (many farms will be offering guests a chance to cut their own bunches of lavender). Participating farms include: Barb's Dutch Mill Herb Farm, Helvetia Lavender Farm, Jackson School Lavender, Mountainside Lavender, Seasonal Mary Herb~Flower Farm. Parking and admission to the farms are free.
