Description: Located in the heart of iconic downtown Manhattan, Kansas, Flint Hills Discovery Center celebrates the geological, ecological and cultural history of the Flint Hills Region at native tallgrass prairie. The Discovery Center opened to the public in April 2012, with exhibits designed to encourage visitors to explore firsthand the many special places within the 22-county Flint Hills Region of north-central Kansas. The family-focused, informal learning center explores the science and history of the Flint Hills and the ongoing role of Kansans to act as stewards for this diverse and ecologically complex area. Exciting exhibits rotate periodically at Flint Hills Discovery Center, with current exhibition space devoted to View From Space: Satellite's View of the Galaxy, and How People Make Things.
