Description: Oktoberfest is held in conjunction with Fort Hays State University Homecoming weekend. The event was first organized as a downtown celebration in 1976 and has become a traditional celebration of the Volga German Heritage of Ellis County. The event is now held annually in Frontier Park along Big Creek. Polka music, dancing, and over 80 booths providing German food, drinks and crafts

Following the open houses, numerous holiday-oriented family activities are planned and this magical time of the year is highlighted with the Annual FrostFest Illuminated Parade. Dozens of lighted floats will roll down Main Street during the first full weekend in December. The Illuminated Parade takes place on Sunday, at 6:00pm.
